Ctr Military - PENSACOLA, Fla. - A young man from Woodbridge County, Virginia is stationed at the Naval Training Command to learn to become an information warfare specialist with the skills needed to protect and defend America around the world.
For the past three months, Seaman Tyler Torres has been stationed at Naval Air Station Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida as a Cryptology Technician (Collection) (CTR) at School A, Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Corry Station.

CTR is responsible for managing modern computer systems for information and space operations; collect, analyze and use signals of interest to identify, detect and report on international threats; control and protect access to confidential resources and information systems; Provide intelligence and strategic signals, technical guidance, digital network intelligence, and information warfare support to surface, ground, air, special warfare units, and national users to maintain information control.

Torres graduated from Charles J. Colgan High School in 2020 and decided to leave home and join the Navy in October of that year.
He is looking forward to meeting new people, gaining new experiences, and taking advantage of the opportunities the Navy offers, such as certification, while serving his country.
"I've always wanted to go into the military," Torres said. "At first I wanted to be a Navy Marine Corpsman, but I was rejected. So I wanted to do something in the information warfare community and decided to do CTR."
As a combat veteran, Torres said he was able to take what he learned in and out of the Navy.

"I just wanted something in the academic field, so I wanted to get out of the Navy and use what I learned," Torres said. "I thought I could do really well in the clinical world with what I learned in the Navy."
Torres has set goals for his career with the A's and is undaunted by the tough times ahead.
"I expect a tough day in the military," Torres said. "But I want to be at the top of my class, so I'm going to work for it. In order to reach the full CTR, I want to take strategic communication steps and do my good with my shipmates in that field."
IWTC Corry Station is part of the regional Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT). As part of the CIWT, IWTC Corry Station is an ongoing training program that prepares Navy and joint forces to conduct information warfare across all military operations.
